reinventing my newsletter: what to expect next
'mediaverse digest' has a new name. Welcome (once again) to 'The Coffee Table'.
Hello, fellow friends!
Welcome (once again) to “The Coffee Table” – formerly known as “Mediaverse Digest”.
I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the future of this newsletter and the content I want to share. Most of that time, I was sitting at my desk with a cup of coffee by my side.
I believe one of my characteristics is living within the moods and environments I create, whether they are specific aesthetic visions or a type of music that sets the atmosphere.
And that’s why I’ve decided to reintroduce my newsletter and give it a new name: “The Coffee Table”—a cozy corner where conversations flow freely and intimately.
I believe this name fits the mood and atmosphere I want to convey to you, an intimate space where friends can converse over a warm cup of coffee.
Quoting one of my favorite films, 'Carpe Diem—make your life extraordinary.' We must seize the moment and create the life that belongs to us.
‘MediaVerse Digest’ will always be a part of me and this space. I’ll continue to discuss about media and the world around it, but now I want to go beyond the frontiers of media and explore all those nuances that define my identity and passions, freely speaking about what feels most authentic to me in the moment. I'll be opening up about my journey, passions, and inspirations – revealing the person behind the 'media persona.'
Like a warm mug in hand, nestled in your favorite spot, where stories are shared, and ideas unfold like the steam rising from your drink.
Here, I invite you to join me as we delve deeper into life beyond the headlines and pixels.
What to expect?
Media and culture will still remain at the heart of this space, but I want to broaden the horizons and feel freer to share with you musings, thoughts, and recommendations in this new cozy space.
As we gather around ‘The Coffee Table’, here's a glimpse of what you can look forward to in this cozy corner of the internet:
Lifestyle: I'll share my life experiences, inspirations, and new discoveries. I can’t wait to talk about what excites me the most and the practices I’m learning to grow and discover who I am and who I want to become.
Musings and inspirations: I seek inspiration in everything around me, whether it's a film, a photo, a book, or even just a song. I really enjoy reading and discovering what others have to say and recommend, and sharing my own recommendations for music, fashion, beauty, films, and everything I learn on this life journey means a lot to me. I’ll be sharing everything I observe, listen to, read and learn during this personal growth journey, in the hope of being a source of inspiration in return.
Media + Culture: Media are an important piece of my life, and I’ll share with you everything that has captured my attention: books I’ve read, films and TV shows I’ve watched, new music and what’s on repeat, articles, and digital products that have impressed me. You’ll find posts dedicated to media digests, recommendations, discovery hubs, and much more.
Travel Diaries and Tips: I love traveling and discovering new cultures and places. I’ll share my travel experiences with you, offer travel tips for the future, and provide other gems for fellow explorers who love to wander.
Writing tips: As a writer, I’ve always explored various forms of writing. For years, I identified with the classic image of the author who write books with new stories and characters to immerse oneself in. Over time, I’ve broadened my perspective to include other types of writing, and through my academic journey, I’ve come to understand different forms of communication. So, here’s a space where I’ll share my journey as a writer in an increasingly digital world—whether it’s books, articles, or new forms of writing.
Through my 20s & reflections: As a woman in her twenties trying to figure out her path and who she wants to become, here is a space dedicated to self-discovery in a world where the future feels both limitless and daunting. Life can be both challenging and magnificent, and especially during your twenties, things can feel scary and intimidating. We’re constantly confronted with the pressure to have everything figured out, yet beneath the surface, many of us are still searching for our place in the world. We’re all in the same boat. I'll share my personal reflections, journal entries, experiences, and more.
Getting to Know Me
I’ve been writing in this space for a few weeks now, but I haven’t properly introduced myself. So, here’s a brief introduction.
My name is Michela, and I’m 22 years old. I was born in February, which I’ve never particularly liked since it’s one of the coldest months of the year.
I’m an Italian student studying media and communication. I graduated in July with a degree in Communication, and in a few weeks, I’ll be starting my master’s degree in Media & Colture, which I’m really looking forward to.
I love cinema and all its forms. If you don’t find me around, I’m probably in a movie theater watching a film (I’m not joking when I say that this summer, I went to the cinema at least 4 times a week).
I love reading, although I’ve been in a reading slump for many months. I haven’t been able to find a book that captures me so much that I can’t take my eyes off the pages, but I know I shouldn’t stress about it and just give it time. My favorite genre is definitely fantasy, and I love any story that includes magic.
I love traveling, and although I haven’t done it in a while, I’ve always learned to manage on my own and travel around Europe.
My greatest passion is writing. Since I was young, I’ve tried writing books (including one I self-published when I was 14). I’m currently finishing one (which has been in the works for 4 years now, lol), a fantasy set in England, and I truly hope to complete this journey very soon. Beyond that, I’ve always seen writing as a lifeline, a refuge where I can escape and unload all my thoughts and fears.
My favorite season by far is autumn, and believe me, I look forward to it all year. The coziness and the scent of cinnamon, the falling leaves, and the cool afternoons when the sun sets in the late afternoon.
One of my soul places is Edinburgh and the Scottish land. It’s a magical place for me, rich in history and enchantment, a great source of inspiration with which I feel deeply connected. Besides that, Canada also holds a special place in my heart, with its boundless and beautiful nature.
I love astronomy, stars, space, the universe, and the secrets it holds. I’ve always been a bit of a science nerd since I was little. I remember buying various magazines for kids that talked about stars, and when I turned 15, I was given my first telescope. One of my dreams back then was to study astrophysics and become an astronomer and scientist, but unfortunately, during my school years, math was not on my side. It made my studies really difficult, leading me to change direction and pursue a career in media communication, which I absolutely love. Nevertheless, astronomy will always remain one of my little hidden passions.
For now, I believe I’ve shared everything you need to know about me and the upcoming changes. I see this space as a place to explore both the world and myself, and to understand my feelings. I don’t want to hold anything back, let alone set limits for myself. I want to feel free to express who I am, and I would be truly happy to have you with me on this (new) adventure.
The content will largely remain the same as before, but with a different, more personal perspective.
I can't wait to have you with me and hear more from you. Your support in any form is greatly appreciated; even a single subscription means a lot xx.
